Český ráj by motorcycle

Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj) truly deserves its name. Sandstone rock cities, castles perched on conical hills, folk architecture, and roads that don’t force you to ride fast but to ride consciously.

Mnichovo Hradiště: the perfect starting point

Begin your ride in Mnichovo Hradiště. The Baroque castle, once visited by Giacomo Casanova, is a fitting introduction to a region steeped in history. From here, take road 268 toward Boseň and pass under the ruins of Valečov Castle.

Kost and Sobotka: the heart of the region

In Kněžmost, turn onto a local road through the village of Srbsko, leading to one of the best-preserved Gothic castles in the country Kost Castle. Even a short stop here is worth it for the atmosphere alone.

Continue through Sobotka. Above the town rises the hunting lodge Humprecht, a striking landmark of the region.

Trosky and Hrubá Skála: symbols of Bohemian Paradise

Take road 281 through Újezd pod Troskami to Troskovice. Trosky Castle , with its twin towers Baba and Panna, is an iconic sight visible from afar.

Just a short ride away is Hrubá Skála Castle and the sandstone rock town below it.

Kozákov: a view worth the climb

Through Karlovice, Volavec, and Lestkov, reach the foot of Kozákov, the highest point in Bohemian Paradise. If you have time, ride up to the top. The panoramic view is breathtaking: the Krkonoše, Jizera mountains, Central Bohemian Uplands, and Orlické mountains spread out before you. Near Votrub’s Quarry, you can even try your hand at finding semi-precious stones.

Bozkov and the return along the Jizera river

Descend from Kozákov to Semily and continue on road 288 to Dolní Bozkov. The local caves hide the largest underground lake in the Czech Republic, a fascinating addition to your ride.

The return route along the Jizera river is among the calmest and most beautiful. Pass through Železný Brod, Malá Skála with Vranov Castle, Turnov, and Dlask’s Farm in Dolánky. Classic Pojizeří scenery, where you can ride slowly and enjoy every moment. From Turnov, it’s just a short ride back to Mnichovo Hradiště.
